I like to tell stories. And I use painting, drawing and photography as channels to let those stories be told. You can keep up with my recent work and happenings here.
I started drawing early in life, using my mom’s eyeliner to give my big-head portraits a little pop, because my pencils weren’t dark enough.
Memory and story-telling are very important in my painting, even when part of a work is done from life. I take colors, shapes, faces, and places as I remember them. So they can come together in a frame.
Poetry and music are often an inspiration. In a way, it’s refreshing to try to base a piece on a word or line from a poem or on a brilliant guitar riff. After all, isn’t that what we are all doing? Telling stories and trying to inspire one another?
