SUNSHINE+love

A blog of sorts, by B. Gutierrez.

My tribute to Tim Burton.
Last month I went in California, and I made this wonderful decision to leave my DSLR at home and just take a couple of my film cameras (the Rebel, the SuperSampler, and the underwater would come with me from Arkansas. The Lomo LC-A+ would meet me in the West Coast). I chose to do this because I’m always looking for ways to refresh my love for art and photography, and I was getting burned out of post processing. To tell you, I still haven’t finished my photos from my previous 2 trips to California (October 2009 and October 2010). After shooting all summer with film, I decided it wouldn’t hurt to do the same with my lovely trip to the West. So I did it.
One of the rolls of film I took was a Kodak 100 TMax (expired 06/2006) that a friend’s dad gave me as a gift, along other equally wonderful rolls of film.
I had been using it to take portraits of people I love, but then, I couldn’t get to everyone I love and just ended up using the rest of it in California.
This picture is the first pumpkin I’ve carved. I was fresh out of the Tim Burton exhibit at the LACMA and still dreaming of his art. I drew Jack Skellington from a google image. All this to tell you that I’m in love with film and will use it as long as I can afford to, and as long as it’s available.
And I will probably keep carving pumpkins as well (SKILLZ!)
